Kids and pets are a great combination! When the kids and their pets get along there are a host of benefits for the kids.

Pets are how one can de-stress and they’re not just companions! If you thought that pets were just for keeping safe and secure – you are living under the rock! Pets for kids can have so many benefits that go beyond just keeping the child secure. Let us share a few ways in which having pets is healthy for kids.

  1. Interacting with pets helps decrease stress-related hormones called Cortisol. And yes! Kids experience stress too like adults but in different formats.
  2. Having pets around helps lower the blood pressure and again helps keep stress at bay.
  3. Several studies have found out that pets help reduce loneliness. With more nuclear family setup emerging and parents having to do jobs or work hard all days can be assured of a good time spent with pets.
  4. Kids without siblings but having pets tend to be better socially adaptable than kids who don’t have pets or siblings
  5. Pets tend to uplift the mood. So after a tiring school or college and then coaching hours, kids tend to look forward to caring for pets and being with them.
  6. Children with autism and ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder) fare better when they have pets. They are able to be better tuned to their surroundings unlike kids who do not have pets. Animals have a way of bridging their social interaction.
  7. Want your kid to be more active? Giving pets a walk several times a day ensures that the kids too get some physical activity.
  8. Taking care of pets entail that the kids learn to give priority to their pet’s needs too apart from their own. This inculcates a sense of responsibility.
  9. Play, Training and Exercise adds value to the kid’s life too. It brings a purposeful role to everyday life. Kids thus forget the meaning of boredom
  10. Create a bond and relationship that lasts a long time.

If these are the benefits why not have a pet for your kid? You will never regret it!
